Activities for charter groups
At the Musée de la Musique, during the visit-workshops, the guides take care
to adapt themselves to the group (vocabulary, length of the visit, etc.).
Educational material is put at the disposal of the participants (instruments
from the western world and elsewhere, instruments that can be dismantled,
samples of wood, other instrument-making materials). A musical repertory
selected by the guide illustrates the visit and complements the performance
of the musician who plays in the rooms of the Museum..
Sensory Visit
- > This visit offers a workshop followed
by an itinerary through the Museum. It allows a small group to discover
instruments and the music they produce. The tactile exploration of
instrument-making materials, handling of whole instruments or their
dismantled components and listening to musical excerpts are combined
with the visit to the collections.
- > Duration: 2 hours
- > Possibility of establishing a
project over several sessions.
Prices
- > Visit with guide for charter groups :
€50 (5 to 10 participants)
The workshops in collective musical practice at the Folie Musique encourage
each individual to enjoy a sensory experience that he or she can share
with the group. The participants are introduced to music and instruments
from around the world. The activities can be prepared jointly with the
persons in charge of the groups.
Music is present throughout the itinerary via audio-guides that transmit musical
excerpts in relation to the displayed instruments.
Musical awareness
- > Musical awareness develops sensitivity
to the world of sound. By playing with their voices and instruments
from different regions of the world, participants familiarise themselves
with such essential notions as the musical gesture, expressiveness
and rhythm. Two wheelchairs are available at the cloakroom of the
Museum..
- > Single sessions and 10-session
cycles
World music instruments
- > By participating to guided visits
to the permanent exhibition and the practical music workshops, visitors
will explore traditional instruments from around the world and their
repertories. A guide and a musician present each visit as a duo, providing
a concrete approach to the presentation of the Museum’s instruments.
This cycle provides an introduction to musical traditions associated
with the instruments examined in the workshop. During the final session,
participants play the gamelan, an ensemble of Indonesian percussion
instruments similar to that on display in the Museum.
- > Cycle presented by a guide and
a musician
- > Cycle of 3 sessions of 2 hours
duration.
Prices
- > Musical practice: single session: €75;
10-session cycle €381
- > World music instruments : €150 per group and per cycle

Instruments and sound studio
- > During the visit-workshops, moments
devoted to observing, describing and comparing the instruments of
the Musée de la Musique alternate with moments of playing acoustic
or electronic instruments (computers, mixing tables). Progressively,
the young participants create audio material by playing with their
voices and various acoustic instruments. These discoveries enable
the production of a collective work, recorded on compact disc and
distributed to participants at the end of the final session.
